World Book Day: Celebrating with Stunning Libraries

World Book Day is a global celebration of books and reading, observed annually on April 23rd. It’s a day dedicated to promoting the enjoyment of books and encouraging people of all ages to discover the pleasure of reading.

The history of World Book Day dates back to 1995 when UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) decided to establish a worldwide event to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. April 23rd was chosen because it marks the anniversary of the deaths of several prominent writers, including William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
