Embalse Guatapé: Colombia's Scenic Hydroelectric Haven

Embalse Guatapé, also known as Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir, is a large artificial lake in Antioquia, Colombia. Created in the 1970s by the Colombian government, it was constructed to support a hydroelectric dam, which provides a significant portion of the country’s electricity. The reservoir submerged the old town of El Peñol, necessitating the relocation of its residents to a new town nearby. Der Embalse Guatapé, auch bekannt als Peñol-Guatapé Reservoir, ist ein großer künstlicher See in Antioquia, Kolumbien.
