Corippo: Switzerland's Charming Miniature Village and Heritage Hotel

Corippo, located in the Swiss canton of Ticino, is Switzerland’s smallest municipality by population. Nestled in the Verzasca Valley, this charming village is renowned for its traditional stone houses and picturesque setting. Corippo’s origins date back to the 14th century, when it was a small rural community primarily focused on agriculture. Over time, with urban migration, the population dwindled, and today it is a historic site with fewer than a dozen residents. To preserve its heritage, Corippo was transformed into an “albergo diffuso,” a dispersed hotel that uses the village’s buildings to host guests, blending tourism and conservation.
