Fethiye: Turkey's Coastal Gem of Ancient Ruins and Scenic Beauty

Fethiye, located on Turkey’s southwestern coast, is a picturesque town rich in history and natural beauty. Known in ancient times as Telmessos, it was an important city in the Lycian League and later under Roman and Byzantine rule. The town is famous for its rock-cut tombs, especially the Tomb of Amyntas, carved into cliffs overlooking the town. Fethiye was heavily damaged by an earthquake in 1957 but has since been rebuilt. Today, it is a popular tourist destination, known for its stunning beaches, turquoise waters, and proximity to ancient ruins and the Lycian Way hiking trail.
